Stainless steel sections with textiles and fake fur. These are window structures created from weaving textiles through the slats of steel grids– a material often used to protect windows from break-ins.
Boxes
For a period of two years, I worked on a series titled “A brief history of abstraction”. Using ready-made 14 in. wooden square boxes covered with thick sheets of felt, I filled the interiors with felt and pompom compositions. These compositions resembled, but did not copy, well-know abstract paintings by a range of male modernist artists. The boxes shut with a felt strip and rubber latch. They could be viewed from a variety of angles; open on a flat surface, half-closed, standing on their sides, or wall-mounted. The video was made at an exhibition of the boxes and uses a computer-generated voice for narration. The videographer is Stuart Bender.
Do not multiply beyond necessity
The video is a record of three years of different sculptures shot in my studio. It was meant to be an introduction and overview of the sculpture I made between 2013 and 2015. The videographer is Stuart Bender.
an exact replica of a figment of my imagination
This is a stop-motion video recording of the installation of the piece of the same name. It entailed arranging sixty strips of felt, mostly sourced from U-Haul moving blankets, over six wall-mounted railings. It’s a parody of my own labor– recreating the repetitive labor required to make the felt and wood pieces I’ve made and continue to make.
